Blackfoot Challenge – Blackfoot Watershed
Nearly forty years of community-based leadership has conserved the Blackfoot Watersheds valleys and wetlands. This area provides a critical connection between the wilderness areas to the north and west, and the Garnet Mountains to the south.
“Our mission is to conserve and enhance the natural resources and rural way of life in the Blackfoot Watershed for present and future generations”
Current projects include:
-Irrigation Efficiency Program, providing expertise and financial assistance to irrigators throughout the valley
-Range Rider & Carcass Pick-Up Programs, reducing the conflicts between domestic stock and wild animals like the grizzly and gray wolf
-Adopt-A-Swan Program, educating local communities about the Trumpeter Swan and helping reestablish their populations in the valley
-Forest Restoration & Weed Management, working with private and public partners to provide knowledge and other resources to cooperatively manage affected lands
